EU/EEA driving licences are treated differently from non-EU/EEA licences. Carry your valid driving licence and the identification and payment documents required by the rental supplier.

Check the specific offer for accepted cards, deposit amount, fuel policy, mileage and insurance conditions. These vary by supplier and vehicle.
Plan the Italian part of the trip
ZTL restricted-traffic zones are common in historic centres. For longer routes, also plan for motorway tolls and parking.
