Car rental in Dubai

Dubai is built for driving: wide, modern highways link the Marina, Downtown, the Palm and the desert beyond. With fuel relatively affordable and distances large, a rental car is often the most comfortable way to experience the city and the Emirates — Abu Dhabi, Hatta and the northern emirates included.

Pick-up locations

Dubai International (DXB) has rental desks in all three terminals, and Al Maktoum International (DWC) serves the south of the city. City branches across the Marina, Downtown and Deira often deliver to hotels. Compare airport and city rates — the difference can be meaningful over a week.

02

Driving there

Driving is on the right. Speed limits are enforced by frequent cameras, and there is zero tolerance for drink-driving. Dubai's Salik toll gates charge automatically — no barriers — and rental suppliers bill the tolls to you afterwards, usually with a small administration fee. Valet parking is widespread and often reasonably priced at malls and hotels.

Good to know

Visitors from many countries can drive with their national licence; others need an International Driving Permit alongside it — check the current UAE rules for your licence before booking. If you plan to drive into Oman, cross-border permission must be arranged with the supplier in advance.
